its 6 months today my mum died of copd, my dad is so lost without her. he has also been told that he has got copd. he asked his doctor was he going to go the same way my mum did. she told him copd is progressive. iam so gutted that 2 people that i love more than life itself, my mum already gone, because of this illness. but my dad is also trying to prepare for the worst. its heartbreaking, but most defo not fair.my mum was a very lovely lady and a good person, and i love and miss her so much. my dad is a proper gentleman and a top man, and i love him very much. life can be very cruel.

Karen12, don't let your dad sit and wait to die. This is a progressive disease but some people live with it for many, many years. Ensure he stops smoking NOW, eats a sensible diet, takes regular exercise and follows advice from his doctor and there is no reason why you and he cannot enjoy his life for a long time yet. Others know the agony of losing loved ones and some of us have children who have also been diagnosed. It can be very tough. We must stay positive, get through the hurt and battle this monster as best we can. Good luck.

Hi karen12, don't worry, spellings don't matter, and neither do thanks really. What is important is that we arm ourselves with as much knowledge as we can to get the best treatment and live as good a life as we can for as long as we can. I had lots of help and advice from others when I first came on this site. I hope your own health stays good. You sound like a lovely, caring person and I wish you and yours all the best. :zen:

Hi karen 12, having copd is bad news, but after diagnosis a designation of \"mild\" is excellent news. I am thrilled for you and for your dad. My son has just been diagnosed as moderate so both of them have a chance to change their habits and make sure they do not get beaten by copd - I see it as a war we have to go all out to win. Good luck and love
