I have been given amoxycillin and doxycycillin (forgive spelling) but these do not seem to do the job Can anyone tell me which antibiotics are best for severe chest infections.

How long have you been taking them for and at what dose ?

    Hi Gordon31

Our Pulmonary Nurses advise us to have a sample of sputum sent off to the hospital laboratory for testing to get the proper antibiotic for the particular infection. Maybe you have already done that.

I read and have always had great results with the "z pack". The first day you take 2 pills then the following 4 days one pill a day. It works for like 10 days. Does wonders for me. I also use musinex OTC pills for chest congestion.

    Hope you find some relief!
