Coping with People

Hi, I've had CS for many years, but I have only just found this site. One of the things that bothers me most about CS is other people's perception, or lack of it.
What I would love to know is, how do you cope with family etc, who obviously think you just have a bit of an achey neck?
People just don't seem to understand the nature of this, and I am useless at standing up for myself and end up doing things that are really, really bad for me. Like today, babysitting small but heavy children who need carrying up and down.
I'm really uncomfortable about trying to explain, it sounds like whingeing, especially when people come back at you with things like 'oh yes, I get a bit of an achey neck sometimes', or 'I have a bad back sometimes'.
So, how do you cope?
My best wishes to everyone :-)

Have a look at Cervical Spondylosis Ruminations and see what you think. It's a common problem for us.
