Corneal swelling after cataract surgery

Anyone had experience of corneal swelling after surgery. Had one eye done week ago and have developed corneal swelling. Instilling Maxitrol 6 times daily on surgeon advice (3 days now). Can anyone tell me if they had a similar problem and how long it took to clear. Eyesight very blurred in that eye, worse in morning. Did have idiopathic corneal scarring before op - just that I am impatient for it to clear!!

Some swelling is normal. It takes 3 weeks for the eye to settle down, and 6 weeks before one can expect full recovery. What eye drops were you on and how frequently were you taking them before you started the Maxitrol?

Been on Maxitrol from Day 2 following surgery at 4 times daily upped to 6 times daily after 4 days on advice of surgeon. Now coming up to three weeks and although sight in that eye is not so hazy as it was - less like looking through a steamed up window - the blurriness is just as bad. Will keep up with progress on this site as I have found it extremely difficult to find any info from someone who has actually experienced the problem rather than sites that tell you generally about corneal swelling. There is no underlying disease, the scars just developed after having sore eyes more than 30 years ago and haven't really caused me any problems.

I would keep in touch with the surgeon as to how long you should be taking the drops. The surgeons all seem to have their own way of dealing with the post surgery drop routine. I was on Vigamox (antibiotic) at 4 times per day for the first 7 days. Durazol (corticosteroid) was once a day for 21 days.
