Pain still constant and far worse at night, now i have been referred to a specialist but may have to have another injection while i wait for an appointment.

Now have an MRI appointment in late October..... there does not seem to any urgency in any of my appointments....

9 months on and process seems to have no end in sight

WOW! That long until your appointment? Is that normal for the UK? I am in the USA and my shoulder appointments have been much speedier, but then again the insurance is high. Maybe yours will heal while your waiting for the appt...eek

Appointment times vary so much here.... some are rapid, some are slow

Perhaps a trip across the pond maybe the answer wink

My shoulder pain began early June this year, escalated fast. Dr. gave me two weeks anti-inflammatories that did no good then I had an xray, Shoulder xray report done 22-7-2014 "almost completely normal, just minimal sclerosis under the tip of the acromion which could be from rotator cuff disease". Eventually late August Dr. gave me a Cortisone injection which didn't do anything. She gave me anti-inflammatory cream (Feldene) & referred me to specialist at a musculosketal clinic. I have to make my own appt through the Choose and Book scheme.

Trouble is now I've come to my property in Spain till 19/11. Earliest appt would, I think, be late October anyway judging from the waiting time given so, much as I'm in agony at times, there's little point in me flying back to the UK early.

As soon as I arrived in Spain I went to a recommended private physio who told me I had lots of inflamed tendons in my shoulder which should never have been left untreated. She inserted acupuncture needles into tendons, tapped & twiddled them, sheer agony! She said it wasn't acupuncture, just one excellent way of reducing inflammation. I went to her team 3x in 8 days but felt much worse. Like toothache in my shoulder or someone sticking a knife in & twisting it. :-( The one I booked to be seen by, the boss, was very elusive too, she made the next three appts she just didn't turn up for. The next appt (my 4th) I agreed to see one of her young team but, to be honest, I didn't feel they had the expertise of their boss. After a showdown about her making appts she didn't show up for I decided I'd not go any more.

I'm relying on paracetamol/tramadol pain relief (prescribed by my UK Dr), I take one when I wake which now is around 5-6am as pain wakes me. Occasionally, I'll take another mid afternoon. I also use ice pack a few times daily on my shoulder & elbow which has been also giving me lots of pain.

Tramadol is the only thing that is giving me some relief combined with diclophenic.Plus to be fair the 2nd injection has helped a little.

Still dosnt explain the problem though, maybe the MRI scan will do this ?

End of October for that then wait for results.......

David, I had my first cortisone in njection in my shoulder and a double dose at that! My shoulder pain got worse and now, 3 weeks later I am now paralyzed in my hand and fingers are completely useless! I have absolutely no function in my left arm and the pain has worsened! I thought I was having a stroke because the paralysis started on the 2nd day after the surgery injection! I am now paralyzed in my left hand, wrist and finger have no feeling! I annoy use my left hand at all and am terrified that they cannot reverse this! I see my doc again on Thursday Jan. 4th! I feel helpless and depressed! This was one life altering shot, with even more problems😢
