Cortisone can work well, for about 6 months.  Then it is out of your system and you can't work again.  Overall, the effects of cortisone aren't worth the risks.

There is a study / arthritis program called "The Precision Study".  Look them up on the internet.  I was in it for 2 years and it worked wonders for me for my arthritis and bursitis.

    Good Luck

Yes, I am in the U.S. But I would look for it because it is a Pfizer based study and it should be international.

Be cautious of the injections. I've been told continued use of them can break down the tissue.

Cortisone works as advertised, but cannot be used often.  My own experience was bad because I had a reaction to whatever they mix it with.

    Jane,

Although not an arthritis problem, I had tendonistis of my achilles several years ago that would simply not go away.  I resorted to a cortisone injection.  Several weeks later, my achilles tendon ruptured.  It became "embrittled," a known effect of the injection but one which I was willing to risk.  I had surgery of the achilles to repair it, and after a few complications that part of my body is doing rather well.

That's my only experience with cortisone injections.

I have had cortisone injected into the base of my thumb twice. Once in October 2013 and once in May of this year. So far, I have had no bad effects.
