Cortisone shot denied by health insurance for neck pain

I've had neck pain for over a year now and the subject of a steroid injection was brought up but my insurance has denied it. They also denied physical therapy. How is this possible for them to deny a simple steroid shot? HOw much could it possibly cost? And also without physical therapy how can I possibly hope to heal? What is health insurance for if they don't cover anything?

This health insurance we have now sure is not for the good of the people, you can ask your doctor to do a PA on it I got one through that way, also for the physical therapy, which you need, you will learn neck exercise that will get the inflammation out, then for 15 mi, apply heat/cold to the neck helps. some people get a ten's unit that helps a lot. hope this helps its worth a try.

Agree it's not for the people, it's for the insurance companies to make money at the expense of our health. Years ago I had the same problem with a different insurance and they covered a couple of steroid injections and six weeks of physical therapy and they fixed me up good. But I'm older now with a little more degeneration in my neck vertebrae. Maybe I can get an over the counter tens unit. Last time in PT that helped so much.

I know the ten's unit sure helped me, i had one in PT, but back then my insurance paid so much on one for me to have at home, now they want, its crazy we are older and need more but get less, hope you can find one, I know how bad that pain can be.

Yes have tried all those thing. Ice does help. It all helps---temporarily. But would be nice if I could get some healing so as not to have to do all these things like I do now. Like when I had a nice course of PT and some steroid injections. Held me together for many years after. But like I say, I'm older with a little more degeneration.....
