Cost of herpes treatment in UK

Posted , 2 users are following.

Hi guys, so I'm currently waiting for my test result for herpes and I'm experiencing genital herpes symptoms. I got free test and antiviral for a week at a government sexual health clinic. Now I'm worried about getting a positive test and wondering if it will give me any financial burden. I'm 24 years old and still in school. Can anyone tell me how much it costs you to treat or manage this virus? Thank a lot.

    It is not cheap!

I am not British but sometimes order my prescriptions from super drug! They also send out 30 tablets for £90. This is much dearer then shops!

Usually I get prescription for €25 from my gp and have found that boots are the cheapest doing a months supply for €40-45e.

Also always ask for generic it will be the same drug but cheaper.

So I gave HSV2 and was very stressed getting my diagnosis. I had a pretty brutal outbreak first. Then a couple of smaller very minor outbreaks within 6 months. I chose to wait 6 months before taking suppression as they say the virus is strongest in the first 6 months to a year so I wanted to let my body fight it.

Since suppression I’ve had no outbreaks. I like it because food and stuff triggers my outbreaks and I wasn’t willing to give stuff I like up 😂😂.. lysine did make a difference though!

I see, I'll try it! Do you take the the supplement everyday now? And how often do you take suppression ?
