Costo new symptoms?

Posted , 3 users are following.

Hi everyone!

For the past month (+-) I've had a dull (almost constant) pain in the left side of my chest, above the breast, sometimes tender to the touch.

Today I woke up, and have a little cough and it hurts like knives, sharp pain in a small spot above breast (on the left) all area feels tender as well.

Is it possible to get worse or change in symptoms? Did anyone had similar experience? Very anxious person over here... 😷

Hu julia ive had this condition for the last 3 months and I have good days and bad days at 1st I was told it was anxiety but I kept telling my gp I had constant pain in and around my left breast and after a thorough examination and tests to rule out heart trouble I was diagnosed with costochondritis ive recently got over a massive flare up caused by stress and the pain was unbearable it raidiated all over the top left side of my body I was literally in tears with the pain I was eating painkillers but nothing worked my gp reffered me to the pain clinic which luckily only took a week to get seen anyway I went yesterday and he is going to give me a cortisone injection into the costochondral joint so hopefully I will get some relief from this horrible pain please try not to stress as it can make the pain so much worse x

You are lucky not all doctors know about

      This . Even went

      To rheumatologist with

Symptoms and they seemed to not know initially .

They sent me for blood work which I have not yet gone for , but need to .

      So what test did

Your doctor give you to confirm this ?'like

      Blood work ?

      Heart exams ,? X-ray ? I need relief

      From this as well.

      Lastly I forgot

To ask , did you test for inflammation ? Like

That's what costochondritus is . Curious to know if you were certain you had inflammation etc .

    • Posted

Yes but did you test for inflammation ? Or maybe docs don't need to test that ? My rheumatologist sent me for that . Have to see what comes up

    • Posted

Ok you have a good doctor . My gp sent me for random tests and said nothing . Tested for Lyme , lupus , rheumatoid factor , etc and some

Basic heart exams . My next move is to follow up with

      My lab

Test as ordered by my rheumatologist and see if it's inflammation for sure . If tests shows inflammation then I will know.

      Seems the people

      In the U.K. Are more

Knowledgeable about this condition , according to the ppl on this forum . The people who are receiving diagnosis seem to be from the UK

      Hi Simone!

I'm from the US, to be honest, when you go to more doctors you'll get more opinions and more diagnosis.. Like many I was convinced it was my heart and went to multiple doctors and recently went to ER cause I was so scared.. At ER they just checked that its not heart or lungs and said the pain is nothing serious, so no diagnosis as well. I'm on anti depressant medication now, see if it will help.

This pain can be in your mind as well, especially when you constantly think and worry about it.
