im in inflammation .... are there any good news stories as all ive read is bad and appocolyptic i know there is no treatment for something so utterley horrible how can this be. is nordic walking any good i suppose the arm moves could set it off. o just walk for my back pain but this costopain stops any movement whatsover even breathing is a struggle at its worst moving an arm lying down is hell on earth heart attack pain for hours what is the prognosis i wonder i also have osteoarthritis no gp has bothered to check me out for heart diseaase apart from checking bp stats and blood oxygen . ive had no ecg but im having well woman blood tests scheduled. the chest pain onset wad after a week of awful neck shoulder pain which actually i have most days i keep buying new pillows but i guess its a waste of time as its costo behind t all !! i go to a physio but its so expensive just for half an hour

i'm so sorry you are suffering so much. I had costochondritis for over three years, and one thing I found out is that I had to be proactive and ask for different tests. I actually changed my primary care physician because I was tired of them telling me to try different medicines, some of which I had bad reactions to, The PA at the new doctor's office suggested physical therapy, which is what worked for me! i still get flare ups occasionally but I take out the exercises and start doing them. And if you haven't seen a cardiologist, make an appointment with one. I was seeing one once a year because of chest pain, and I was in the ER frequently, and I was constantly told that I was OK. I finally had an appointment with a really good cardiologist, who ordered a CT angiogram, and they found a blockage in my right coronary artery. I had a cathetorization last summer and they put in a stent. So ask people for recommendations on a cardiologist, because the one I used to go to was in the same practice as the new one I saw and who I still see now. Best of luck to you.

Hi, according to your story . which one actually make your in pain condition?, costochondritis or blockage on your artery? i also suffer from this chest pain almost 3 years until now. and god know how many times i spend my times visited ER. i wish i have enough money to go and see a cardiologist. but been doing few cardiac assessment last year ie 3 times stress test and echocardiogram and all the result came out normal. did you do same test as mine and get the normal result? many thanks in advance.

I am not really sure which problem caused my pain, but it was the pain that caused me to see the cardiologist. Your insurance should cover a visit to a cardiologist and also the tests. I only have to pay a small copay each time. But definitely ask around for a recommendation for a cardiologist. The first one I had was very nice but sent me for tests and kept saying there was nothing wrong. Yes, I've had stress tests and echocardiograms. The doctor who ordered the CT angiogram is in my opinion the best doctor they have, and I have heard this from many people. Good luck to you.

i thank you for the advice most useful i am sure movement is medicine i have emailed my physio

and perhaps a cardio check is a sensible precaution too im just resigned to the fact that you have to manage your own healthcare and dont seem to get what seems obvious support and help from gps and they are the only portal to cardioligists other than sitting for hrs in A&E appreciate your kind words love xxx hot water bottles are my best friend too

my husband keeps saying hugging pillows at night is my wall . it hurts me i try to explain its support for my chest and i have one between my knees too as i have back pain and its good to stop me twisting ... hes not good with illness .... if he only new what this feels like 

hes superfit for his age exercise mad !!! and i seem to be less and less able to exercise as each time i do i seem to get injured!'
