Costochondritis

Hey, I've been diagnosed with costochondritis several months ago (~3 months ) and haven't worked out at gym in 1 months .In first month my pectoral muscle hurts very bad. Then in the last months pain is pain is weaker but still hurts. Pain is situated in a tendon that is little " swollen " near to the sternum jonction. The first month I took NSAID everyday . Now this tendon still hurts. I go to the gym 3 days per week , but without working my chest. In 6 months i have physical examination at the Police Academy, and i must work .

What can i do with this costochondritis ? Can i work out ?

Sorry but i don't speak english very good .

Thank You !

I suspect that you have posted in the wrong place as this is for patients with PMR, GCA or both.

Have a look and see if you can find the right forum for you.

    Hi,

My daughter was diagnosed with this condition and was then found to be suffering from Fibromyalgia.

Try looking at that forum. It may give you some answers.

    Best of luck.

I cannot advise you, because I am struggling with this myself.

I have all the symptoms of PMR, and prednisone has helped a lot in controlling the pain. But I've had rather severe pain in my sternum all through this PMR. When sneeze,it feels like something will pop. Actually, my whole rib cage is uncomfortable and has been all along.

When I saw my GP recently and told him about it, he said it sounded like costochondritis.  But how in the world could that be?  I thought costochondritis was an inflammatory condition.  I'd think that they 12.5 MG of prednisone I'm on would have wiped that out.

    Confusing situation.
