Hi ladies have any of you had chest pain thought you were having a heart attack, it happened to me. I was having chest pain and other symptoms and was rushed to A&E. Tests were done everything ok. Have you had any pain in your chest Costochondriris is a condition that some people with fibro can have. It is inflamation of the cartilage that connects the ribs to the breastbone. The pain can be described as stabbing, aching, or burning. Any chest pain should be looked into to rule out anything serious.

Hi I've had this for yrs now Dr put it down to my asthma but found I had a shadow on one of my lungs which turn out to be nothing to serious as I'm very new to fibro and only been dignoses in the last 4 weeks I never relise that ppl with fibro get paplatations and heart problems which I was sent to AE the oher week for I do suffer a lot of burning and pain in my chest and always put it down to intergestion and heart burn . I've now been refred to cardiology and have few appointments coming up but from what I've read those with fibro do suffer problems with the heart and paplatations and pain in that area . I wish you all the best hope it sorted soon

Hi Kaz, and others;  my experience with this, all started back in 1977, in my early days of nursing.....and of course, having learn't A Little...thought the same....heart problems....but luckily for me, we had just got a Very good Cardiologist come to town (way up north near Cairns)....and he said then that it wasn't too much to worry about....told me it was Osteocondrites.....the rib-cage and intercostal cartilage/muscles.....so don't get much probs now, as my meds for the Arthrites take care of it......can't really say I get Palpitations (as bad as others',) like my son, who says he feels like his heart is going to Pop out of his chest....his is always related to Stress (mostly), but he has been woken out of his sleep/been watching movies etc.....his is a medical condtion, due to a prob with his Atrial Node sending off Extra impulses...do you people think your Palpitations could be related to Stress, too.....as we all know that we are Stressed people (one of the reasons that we become Fibro sufferers???  so the Professionals  say:   or as a result of the Fibro, and it's affect on our Nerves/Muscles?   this is getting me onto another Essay....there are soooo many questions re "the Palpitations".....and yes, they do need to be checked, as none of us could Forgive ourselves, if just one of the fibro people thought it was Just our Fibro, and something else was happening???   will be doing my research on this with reference to the Fibro, and will see what I come up with.........until then, will keep reading others' inputs.......Bron

Hi Bronwyn Ive had quite a few heart tests, I was found to have extra heart beats which isnt anything to worry about, also Ive been tacacardic my heart rate went up to 170 beats a miniute at 1 point. Their are heart problems in my family with many of my family members dieing young from heart attacks. my dad died when he was 42 from a heart attack. the day I thought I was having 1 was frightening, I was rushed in all tests came bac ok which was a huge relief. Then I was searching about heart conditions problems I have angina. I came across costochondritis and how some people with fibro can have it.Any chest pain should be investigated it as you cant put everything down to fibro, it could be something else going on. Take care Bronwyn smile
