COSTOCHONDRITIS came from out of nowhere!!

Hey Ladies..

Has anyone of you lovely ladies experienced COSTOCHONDRITIS, during your perimenopausal /menopausal journey? Roughly 3 days ago, I started having a NAGGING pain that's located right above my left breast; it came from out of nowhere, it stays right in that area (circular), and doesn't move! I know it is another HORRIFIC symptom of menopause; simply because COUNTLESS perimenopausal & menopausal symptoms come from outta nowhere, that's just what they do. It ALL correlates to imbalanced hormones! Per Florida from Good times: Damn, damn, damn! Now, I break a GLASS punchbowl!

I've never heard of costochondritis until today. I get this pain all of the time but could never put a word to it. Thanks for sharing!

My anxiety makes me believe I'm having a heart attack and I have to talk myself down from having a panic attack. I get the rib pain in the upper part of my left breast and sometimes near the bottom part of my rib cage. It's always on the same side. It started about 6 months ago and went away for a few months, but now I'm experiencing it again (along with a ton of other perimenopausal symptoms). I dont know what triggers it or how to get rid of it.

      Hello JL...

You're very welcome! I'm glad I could help! That's why I absolutely love this forum! We ALL learn soooo.. much about the HORRORS of perimenopause, menopause, and postmenopause, often.

oh gosh yes! I have had a nasty bout of this for afew months, it started small and increased to spread across my whole right rib cage. I was convinced something was terribly wrong. And the drs think I'm nuts. Two er visits later and enough ice packs and heat pads to make me look insane and it just dissapeared as quickly as it arrived. I'm so sorry you have to deal with this! hopefully you find some relief soon.

Sorry to hear of your pain, I have been experiencing this for the past 18 months - it's awful. I fought to get all sorts of GP & hospital appointments with the NHS - no one took me seriously either and fobbed me off with paracetamol and ibuprofen. Have also had my breasts check as I was having pain in the both side, under the armpits and back. Polyps where identified on my gallbladder which I am lucky to have had removed 2 weeks ago in this climate. In having my gallbladder removed I still have the pain - the only thing that helps is a hot water bottle, the pain is debilitating. I have signed up with a menopause nutritionalist I am hoping she can help. Thanks so much for sharing your story - it's makes one feel less crazy and alone

      Hey Lee,

Thank you for your story, as well! When it comes to this HORRIBLE symptom, it.... like the majority of the symptoms comes and goes! Right now, I am okay; thank the Lawd! I do NOT KNOW what to expect, from day-today! Just yesterday, my allergies began to flare-up; mind you, allergies were FOREIGN to me until I entered the peri-menopausal stage of my life, smh! I encourage you to ADVOCATE for yourself; a lot of doctors and health professionals are notorious for DISMISSING us when we ask for help! On that note, be well, my menopausal sistah!
