Hello George, and although I'm very sorry to hear about your chest pain, I'm also quite intrigued!  The reason being that during my PMR years I also suffered with a sudden bout of chest pain which hung around for a while before eventually disappearing never to return.  At the time I put it down to the inflammation of PMR affecting the chest muscles.  One or two other PMR sufferers have mentioned a similar experience, and, in fact, someone has posted on another PMR forum just in the last few days complaining of similar pain.  I have looked up costochondritis and it appears that most cases  have no apparent cause (bit like PMR!!).  From our various experiences, it seems that there may be a possible link.  I do hope you experience a similar outcome to me, with your pain disappearing never to return.

Hi George, I have had PMR for just over three years - about two years in I got the most horrible chest pain which was diagnosed as costochondritis. Combined with shoulder and neck stiffness it was nasty. The Doctor said I had pulled the muscles and it would eventually disappear although it might take a long time - which it did. I now have a few twinges but it seems to have gone. So wait it out and it should ease off.
