Hi detour12,
I'm sorry costochondritis has been causing problems for you. It really is a pain!
I've had it for almost 18 months and it's something that honestly does get better. I'm (mostly) pain free day to day but sometimes it flares a little if I overdo things.
When I first had it, I was in excruciating pain and could not even lift mildly heavy things.
Best advice I can give is to see a physio, because costo is linked to your spine. I've done exercises before which really help. There's also a guy from New Zealand who is leadimg the way with costo problems. Search 'Backpod New Zealand'on Youtube. The backpod is actually really helpful along with physio.
There are certain things that I can't do like really heavy weights as that will bring on the pain, but I'm not too worried about that as I never was a weight lifter before.
Good luck and I hope you recover soon. Don't worry about the time it takes, just rest and it will get better.
