Costochrdritis Anxiety

I've had costochrdritis since August. It was super bad to begin with, but I'm a rower so I had to push through it. Recently it's been excruciating. I can't do anything. I haven't worked out in 5 weeks and I haven't slept more than 2 hours a night. I have so many worries about this condition. I've done tests, and had X-rays and MRI's and I've been checked for cancers. I've gone to 6 doctors and 2 physical therapist and I've been going to my chiropractor. Nothing helps, and it keeps getting worse even though I've just been resting. Now they might want to wire my chest. I'm just so scared and stressed. My parents and family have been super supportive and helpful but I'm still extremely worried. Help?

My heart goes out to you Jennyd. The pain can be so bad that it is debilitating and very frightening. Mine is apparently in my upper chest and the pain is across the breast and the shoulder. My mind has run riot thinking terrible things, as I'm sure you have. I only wish we could take something to make it better but unfortunately there isn't anything. Thank goodness for this site where we can at least talk to each other. My love and good wishes to you, Shirley xx

Thank you. I'm fifteen and not really into taking meds or anything but one thing that sometimes helps is Motrin, and before I try to go to bed I put lavender oil on the bottom of feet. I have the same pain spots as you. Is yours on the right or left?

Mine is all on the right side. I have altered just about every thing I do that may make it worse. Will definitely try the lavender oil.

I'm still going to doctors trying to make sure that what I have is nothing worse than this costochrondtitus.  I can't help but wonder if I may have MS or ALS and I'm very scared!!  I now have tingling going to my arm/hands and legs/feet.  I need to know that my symptoms are what I should expect from this condition.  I have pain on both the left and right sides, but mostly the right.  I have burning in my shoulders and up and down my back and sometimes across my lower back.  Burning in my abdomen and in my rib cage.  Even across my breasts at times and under my breast bone.  How do you know for sure that this is indeed what you have??  I have excruitating days at times as well.  I'm afraid to go to sleep at night because I'm afraid of having one of those horrible heart attack pains.  I'm sorry that I can't be of more help to you.  As I learn, I will share.  I've been going to Yoga and Water Aerobic classes and that seems to help.  I also sit in the steam room at the gym and that makes me feel good as well.  I seem to be better when I'm somewhat active than when I just sit.

Hi, I'm not qualified to diagnose you with costocondritis and or tietze's but from the sounds of it, you have super bad inflation. I have that as well. I can't even feel my chest it's so bad sometimes. Anti inflamitiories help with that. Also, the tingling can come from pinched nerves because your body is freaking out because of the amount of pain causing the muscles to clamp down, thus pinching nerves here and there. Don't quote me, I'm 15... So lol, I, just saying what my doctors have said. For the ,uncles I've been using something like deep blue rub, and taking epsome salt baths. If moving makes it worse, then be lazy, it's all good. But I would go talk to a doctor if you haven't already. For MS and ASL that's going to be like nausea, and not being able to pick up your leg, or having memory trubles because something like MS is normally caused by something in the brain. I wish you luck on your condition what ever it may be. But is going to get better someday!
