Costro and disability

I have been suffering with Costro and fractured rib cartilage by my sternum for over 2 years. I haven't been able to work this whole time. I am in a lot a pain, especially if i try pushing or lifting things. Sometimes i would get pain that wraps from my sterum to my spine. I also get spasms throughout my right side. Unfortunately i get sick from most medicines and so treating my pain is tricky at times. Financially its killing my family. Someone told me to try filing for disability. But i was denied the first 2 times and now I'm waiting for a court date. Has anyone else tried disability or done anything else for income.

to I have been suffering from Costo for the over 2 and a half years now. I don't have fractured ribs but the pain you are describing having horrible pain that wraps around your sterum to the spine and getting spasms is what I get as well. Sometimes it is just pain in the front part of my chest and goes all the way to the back ribs and the pain is intense and I can hardly breath. I too have not worked for 2 and half years. I am a Youth Counselor who's job is very demanding both physically and mentally. Just before Christmas I had to quit both jobs as I have been away from them for this long that I felt it wasn't right that they keep my spot for me seeing as there is no work clearance in sight. I am lucky to be on Disability and live at home but still Money is tight. I am getting so tired of laying around and having this continual pain. I saw a Cardiologist heart good and strong and all valves and vessels are clear and in good working order. However after all the tests he ran me through he had no answers for me as to what to do with my continued pain and how to treat it. He said he will write my Doctor and let him know his findings and recommendations to be refereed to other Doctor (s) for further investigation. I was talking to a nurse in the ER when I went for a test and was told that this type of condition Doctors don't really know what exactly causes it and therefore they are stumped to know exactly how to treat it. What medications are you on? has your Doctor given you a treatment plan for sent you to other doctors for investigation?

I'm sorry you have been going through the same thing. No, unfortunately I dont have a pain plan yet. I'm waiting for the pain clinic appointment. I keep getting turned down for disability. Now i have to wait for a court date. It really sucks no xrays or CT scans can show doctors whats wrong. It would be easier if they could see a problem to fix.
