Coughing

I am still awaiting thyroid scan went back to GP has still unwell coughing he says coughing is not a sign of a goitre although on the NHSWeb site it clearly says it is now I am on omeprezole to see if that helps the cough has antibiotics did nothing and I am still on 100 ml aday of thyroxine

    Coughing can be a sign of a goitre. Go back and see another GP.

    Hi Nicola, I developed a dry cough, it appeared to coincide with the formula being changed on medication, spoke to pharmacist who had not heard of this happening before, I took myself off the medication and cough improved, though took a couple of weeks (I would not encourage anyone to stop taking medication), however just an awareness of side effects, to discuss further with GP.

      I have been on thyroxine for14 yrs now but only just got these other symptons coughing hoarse voice etc

    Same here Nicola new blood pressure tablets and developed cough but doctor knew this was a side effect this could be same for you.

    changed tablets 3 or 4 times but it took a while for cough to go away.

    I myself suffer from a chronic cough, but also feels like I have to keep clearing my throat.  My endo told me that Post nasal drip is common with hypothyroidism.  Not sure if this is what you may be experiencing, but just a though..
