Ring your GP asap hun!!
Coughing up blood could be a sign of internal bleeding.
You need to ring now.
Take a photo of anything you bring up or pass as it's easier for the doctor to see with a photo.
What colour is the blood?
Please ring your GP first or 111 /999 before answering on here!!
Good luck hun 🌺

Hi Elizabeth
I did speak with the Dr at the hospital when i was discharged and she said I would probably cough up mucous with blood because i had lung infarction. She did say if it was lots then to come back in but it's only been streaked with my mucous (dark red) . Hving just been reading some posts of people who had weeks of coughing up blood after diagnosis.
It's really scary and was one of my main symptoms before the PE diagnosis.
Thanks for your reply and I hope you are doing okay.

Hi hun,
I'm glad it wasn't a lot of blood but any blood passed or brought up while taking blood thinners is a worry and I understand what they told you but for a simply phone call, I would still ring your GP just to be safe plus for them to monitor it.
Maybe keep a diary yourself of how often you are seeing the blood and remember to write the colour down and amount.
As it can go from bright red to looking like brown coffee bits.
Plus take photos if possible on your phone to show and again keep a record.
This is your life and you don't want to take any chances.
Plus one of the main side effects from blood thinners are bringing up blood or passing blood or clots when going to the toilet.
Please be safe and it's always put your health first.
Warmest wishes 🌺

Hi,
Yes, I am on Warfarin and have had this when I coughed a lot. Apparantly, it can happen when on blood thinners. Given that your PEs are so recent, I would also advise getting it checked out. You should still be under the care of your pulmonary specialist, so maybe give them a call direct? That's what I was told to do in the first few weeks after PEs.
