Coughing up weird sputum

Posted , 2 users are following.

Hi all,

i've been coughing up strange colored sputum for about 4-5 days now. (sputum is basically mucous + saliva junk for those who haven't heard of that word before)

I know certain bacterial or viral infections have yellow or greenish color, which i've had before, but this time the stuff i cough up is mostly colorless except for greyish coloring/specks/cloudiness (clearly having trouble describing it ha). posting a pic would be best but i don't want to do that unless some people have suggestions/think seeing would help figure it out.

i'm studying to be a medical lab scientist so i'm not a total newbie to the medical world but i've never coughed up stuff like this!

thank yall in advance!

It sounds like healthy sputum, but if you are constantly coughing it up you may have some irritation in your throat, not necessarily an infection. Do you suffer with heartburn or indigestion?
