Could I be allergic?

I've had this going for awhile, my mouth and around my lips itches. My lips has even went numb and my throat felt like it was closing up. Also wen I eat I always feel sick afterwards. But it doesn't matter what I eat, I always feel nausea. Any suggestions what this could be?

    hi luvnlivnholy,

well it's hard to say whats the problem because you didn't say what kind of food are responsible for you weird feeling.

Anyway many foods are containing histamine. As soon as you eat sth histamine rich, or even histamine low, your body reacts with an allergic reaction. Symptoms could be sneezing, watered eyes, burning throat, hurting stomach etc.

To get a diagnosis you can go to a allergist for a blood test.

(I'm histamine intolerant as well and I'm using Daosin, it helps me to eat everything. Doesn't matter if histamine rich or low. It avoids the allergic reaction)

    take care smile

Thank you so much! I'm not really for sure what foods trigger it. I had thought it was peanut butter, because everytime I have an episode I have had peanut butter that day. But it doesn't happen when i have peanuts so i don't know if that's it or not. And now i get sick everytime I eat it doesn't matter what I eat and sometimes I just wake up feeling nausea. So it may be something else. Thanks so much for taking time to reply!

If your lips, tongue or throat swell you may be at risk of anaphalxis.

Get yourself to a doctor or urgent care centre if you feel like your throat is closing or your breathing is effected.

Like Alex said you could be sensitive to histamine related food - this would definitely tie in with your stomach / nausea symptoms, I've been recommended Daosin too to help when eating rich natural histamine foods, as it combats the intolerance.

I've also been advised to stay clear of anything that is Salicylic acid based so Tomatoes, berries, olives, mushrooms, grapes and radish (all the things I love!) as these can also contribute to allergies, especially if like me you are already allergic to Aspirin and Ibuprofen based medications.

Keep a diary of the times it triggers and the things you've eaten - its not to say you are allergic to an actual product, it could be something else contained in it!

At least by monitoring your food intake you can avoid the triggers until you can see an immunologist or allergy specialist and this will help them massively in working out a plan to help you.

    Take care xx
