Could I have had RA for all these years?

This is a weird question but I have arthritis in my hips the symptoms started 16 years ago my knees are now also affected and last few weeks my hands are really sore whenever I do anything,  my uncle has ra and not sure what my dad had as it was never diagnosed so I went back to the doctors to get my bloods done again. My esr was 26 it was slightly raised the last time as well. Just had xrays and the guy wouldn't tell me what they showed. Waiting on the ra test result. The surgeon thinks its OA but I'm beginning to doubt as family history and its affecting both sides.

Have you ever had psoriasis at all. I have problems with both my hands and have a lot of pain. Whilst some slight differences are apparent, I have none of the usual disfigurement assosciated with RA (such as "clawed" fingers).  It took a few years and a number of different doctors for this to be diagnosed. There is no history of arthritis in my family. I just wondered whether this could be a possibility with you.
