Could I have Lyme Disease

Posted , 5 users are following.

Hi 2 years ago I feel very ill with flu like symptoms my doctor at one point queried meningitis.

Which it wasn't since thrn I have had joint pain, headaches, ringing in the ears, forgetfulness, tingling hands snd feet,

tired but not all the time and burning mouth.

My doctor told me I have fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis which I know I have some osteoarthritis in my knww and thumb.

I dont think I have fibromyalgia my symptoms dont fit. The one thing is concerning me is I am getting very forgetful.

I was thinking the other day about a week or teo before I feel ill I went on a long walk through lots of undergrowth in shorts

And ended up with lots of scratches and bumps on my legs. One little lump which is still there.

Do symptoms of Lyme Disease some flare up to be worse sometimes more than others. And does anyone get a burning mouth.

Thanks

    Hi Tracy ,

Many Lyme patients are misdiagnosed with other illnesses before a diagnosis , you have come to the right place for info all the people on here are really helpful !

Lyme disease is an awful illness especially if left untreated which so often happens in the uk .unfourtunately our gps have there heads up their arses over this as , but their are a few that are willing to listen as was the case eventually with wiv me after 3 long years of awful symptoms muscle twitching , all over body , tingling , itching , brain fog , heart palpitations bone pain , neck and shoulder pain fatigue, etc, I did present with a bullseye rash but my gp did not know what it was gave me some cream and sent me home , if it had been picked up then , I wouldn't endured as much pain , Lyme disease is awful and needs to be treated as quickly as possible , unfortunately testing for Lyme is so so poor , a diagnosis will be based on symptoms alone and trying antibiotics which should be given even if Lyme is suspected , but treatment needs to last a lot longer than the nhs standard 28days because this is not enough when it's been left so long undiagnosed , my advice is to see your doctor as quickly as possible and tell him your fears , be firm that you suspect Lyme and tell him about your bites and scratches , also contact Lyme action they will give you some great advice and help you to liaise with your doctor , good luck

Hi Tracy, I'm not sure about 'burning' mouth but I know what you mean, I had an incredibly dry, sometimes painful mouth in the first few years after being diagnosed, to the point of waking up in the middle of the night in discomfort. The only thing that seemed to help - and I don't know why - was eating cereal with almond or soya milk just before going to bed. Hope you get some comfort soon.

And yes, symptoms of Lyme do flare up and then die down. I've got a revolving list of about six symptoms which seem to go in cycles.

    - tinnitus

    - thinning skin (veins very noticeable and bulge)

    - tickly throat and dry cough

    - thick phlem at back of nose

    - occasional dry eyes

    - ear ache

    - muscle aches and pains

    - joint pain

    - on / off mild fevers

    - tiny pin prick like spots on torso, arms, thighs

    - blotchy skin

    - pigmentation in skin (dark around mouth and nose and blotches in other parts of body)

    - skin dints very easily / shiny palms / stretchy skin

    -constant clearing of throat

    - spaced out feeling

    -dizziness and vertigo

    - headaches

    - stiff and aching neck and back

    - random skin rashes that come and go but chest is red and blanches

    - cold hands and feet

    - shivers (get goosebumps all over body for no reason)

    - Finger tips sometimes turn blue

    - brain fog

    - fatigue

    - wart like tiny blister looking spots on palms and palms look extra wrinkled and shiny

Hope you get to the bottom of things soon!
