Could it be diverticulitis

Started having left, lower back pain on Friday. I thought I threw my back out until the pain started radiating around to my front left lower quadrant. Have been having continuous pain in that entire area since. Went to the emergency room on Sunday concerned that I may have a kidney stone, which was ruled out. After dealing with an extremely negligent, so-called physician, I left. The next day I was able to look at the Radiology report which states that there is an occasional small mesenteric lymph node noted and occasional colon diverticulum is present. I have never been diagnosed with diverticulosis much less diverticulitis. Basically have never been told I had diverticulum at all. The Physician did not address the fact that in have diverticulum on my colon and being that the pain has not subsided any I am concerned at this point that I could have diverticulitis. My question to anyone that may know is would diverticulitis show up on a CT scan without contrast or does further testing need to be done because I actually have diverticulum present to see if they are infected? Anyone that can give me any information to help ease my mind or to help me know what I should do at this point would be greatly appreciated. Just one of those situations where you don't want to cause a big fuss and all you did is throw out your back. But I've never had or heard of anyone having front left lower abdominal pain with a thrown out back. Thanks in advance for any info. Side note...I do have a family history of diverticulitis

Sorry that you are in soo much pain but it does sound like you have diverticulitis. It should have shown up in your CT scan with contrast. When I was diagnosed I had the same symptoms you are having and it showed up in CT Scan.

Hi tee40171!
Unfortunately my Ct scan was done without contrast. He didn't even mention the diverticulum. From what I've read if you have diverticulum present you should be diagnosed with
Diverticulosis, unless they're infected at which point it becomes diverticulitis. Did you have pain in your left, low back and hip as well....almost feels muscular?

Sounds like it could be diverticulitis, back to a different dr for better guidance?
I've found manuka honey helps in the absense of antibiotics. ...

Hi I was admitted to hospital 4 days ago with a bloated stomach, severe Pain in my abdomen (lower left to middle). I felt very nauseous, they took bloods, urine, gave me an X-ray & CT scan. I've been diagnosed with diverticulitus and given two sets of antibiotics, the inflammation has reduced, pain has subsided, still having waves of nausea & dizziness which may be a result of meds
