Could it be from birth control usage?

okay so i would like to hear from some ladies who are going through this horrible menopausal hell....have any of you taken any form of birth control in your life? First off i tried a few birth control pills but they caused me horrendous side effects, but after having 2 kids by the age of 20 i thought i had to do something. So 2 weeks after my second son was born i felt great! I go into the dr to get the depo shot. She gives me the shot throws a pamphlet at me and im out the door. Fast fwd a 3 days and the next thing i knew my world was turned upside down! Severe anxiety and panic attacks hit, i lost 20 pounds and i bled no stop for one year. After so many months of this i finally read the pamphlet, had i known i never would have gotten it! Ever since getting the depo i never felt normal again and i started getting very sick on my periods when i never did that before? Now that i am going through menopause i have this sickness so horribly! My mom and sister never had this much trouble...but they never got the depo shot. Thoughts??

Hello Brandy. The question is NO. I never been on any sort of birth control in my life and here i am with the worst peri menopause. I think it is the food, medications, the air we are breathing plus the stress in life that is causing all this havic in our bodies.

I definitly believe that too!! I cant even drink any type of bottled water cause it really messes with my hormones, i get very sick and have lower gut gurgling from it. And i most certainly cant chew any gum with aspartame anymore, but i tried the clean eating cutting out all gmos, doing organic stuff for two months and i noticed no difference in how i felt sadly.

I was on ortho novum 1/35 (pill) for 10 years from 18-28. Felt fantastic - no issues what so ever.

i honestly sont think bc has anything to do with it. i just believe that some of us are more sensitice to hormone fluctuations

I think whatever was in that depo shot though messed up my brain and how it functions. I was completely normal before it and the only 3 days later my world wemt to hell in a handbasket. It did say in the pamphlet to not use the shot if you have any history of mental disorders so that tipped me off that there is a connection to something in that particular bc causing hormone/brain malfunction

I have just come off depo, after about 10 years. Never had any problems with it, no periods and only very occasional spotting but that is all. Before that I took various different contraceptive pills with varying success as my PMT was awful and made me a bit psycho! I've just started on a mini pill as I am now 49and want to see where i am with meno, hopefully I won't have the psycho freak outs anymore!

Your one of the lucky ones! lol ive read some horror stories about the depo. Ever since using it i have had different times in my life when i had my hormones tested, my estrogen was always fine but my progesterone was always out of whack since the shot, never had a problem with my hormones before depo 😦
