Could lack of sleep cause my anxiety to rocket

Hi. I have suffered GAD and depression for over 40 years. Been good for the last 2 years but then during lockdown I got into the habit of staying up to watch movies until 2 or 3 a.m. I am also working from home so it was easy to get up at 8 a.m., go downstairs and begin working on my laptop. Last Friday I woke up feeling jittery and with a sense of dread which lasted all day. That night I began going to bed at 10:30 p.m. but Saturday I woke up in full anxiety mode and have been up and down with the anxious feelings since. Today I woke up feeling sooo tired as if I had not slept for days and at my computer I could hardly keep my eyes open.

During lockdown I also started drinking caffeinated drinks again, totalling around 300mg plus per day. I gave up caffeine two years ago and I suppose I went back to it to stop feeling tired. So after kicking myself for starting back on caffeine - will never touch the stuff again - I have been off it since Saturday hoping to calm my anxiety. This doesn't seem to have worked yet but then once I am in a pit of anxiety I also get depressed and have symptoms of both.

My question is do you think my lack of sleep - 5 hours per night for over a year - and the caffeine have finally collaberated with lockdown/covid/return to work worries may be why I find myself where I am now? If so how long do you think it will take to get back to normal?
