Could my low mood and anxiety be caused by Vitamin D and Iron levels?

I've been experiencing low mood and anxiety since the start of January now. It came on quite suddenly, and I found myself crying on my lunch breaks, having to leave my desk and so on.

My doctor recommended antidepressants, but I was keen to be tested for any underlying causes first.

My blood test results showed

Vitamin D- 23

Iron- 19

So my doctor says I was slightly deficient. Could this be causing such extreme low mood and anxiety? It is affecting my work as I can't focus on anything, and I struggle getting on the tube and being in the office. My friends and family are now really worried about my mental health.

I started taking Iron/Vit D (20,000) prescription nearly two weeks ago. I saw an improvement last week, but feel like I am back to square one again now.

Just looking for some insight here. Has anyone else experienced anything similar? Thanks in advance.

sorry that you are feeling that way. good you are trying other remedies. please don,t go on anti depressants just because the doctor says, doctors are good at dishing out those medications and the truth is that the medications have very damaging side effects and can cause you more problems, google anyone of them and read on the side effects. they are curing one thing on you and causing a bigger problem which can be long term. please try seeking out other therapies and natural healing foods i believe it will help. i say so because i work with people who are living with the effects of anti depressants and its not good, if it can be avoided with a better and non medical solution then that will be beautiful.

    i wish you good health
