The mite can be the caus of Blepharitis /mgd. Have any of you had a doctor test for the mite?? Im definitely asking my optometrist to consider it. Those useing the wet naps. Perhaps this explains why its curring it??

I'm pretty sure that they can't test for the mite just as they can't find the responsible bacteria in amongst all the bacterias present in and around your eye . They can't treat the responsible bacteria ocausing the blepth without killing all the others . Usually the strongest comes out on top and things can get worse .

The "secret" is to try and make the living conditions for the mite so uncomfortable that they don't reproduce .Evidently they have a short life so keeping the lashes and gland openings clean (very regularly ) is the best option . having tried many expensive products , very many , i personally find boiled water with camomille baby wash and a decent paper towel to be as good a cleaning method as the £30. blepth cleaners . Soothing too . Everytime you have a hot drink , spend a couple of minutes cleaning .

It can be done by taking a sample of lash and looking under a microscope.

The trick is getting a good exam by a doctor with knowledge about it.

Definately agree with you here, I control the dreaded bleph with a daily morning shower using 'Capasal' shampoo as a hair and face wash, especially around the eyes.  It MUST be repeated daily.  Capasal is available on prescription or Amazon, about £10, lasts ages.

really , i will follow up on this . Very interesting , how long has this been available ? I'm in the Uk , are you ?

The test Lee , it doesn't appear to be offered in the Uk , not even privately . In my particular case I've the posterior blepth where all the problems stem from inside the glands . All the cleaning in the world can't shift the microscopic nasties .

I use a mixture of tea tree oil and no tears baby shampoo and wash my face with it. Keep eyes shut, cool water rinse, then mild lotion smile Dena
