Could this be lichen sclerosus? 22F

Posted , 6 users are following.

ive seen 3 vulvar disorder specialists and they just dont know whats wrong. ive had mild, constant itching for a year since i started birth control. i came off birth control 2 months ago but havent seen imrovement. its worse on my period, my lips get sticky and stick together, but moisturizers do not help. no other symptoms. ive tried everything. negative for everything. switched toilet paper, laundry detergent, soaps... everything.

ive tried clobetasol for 2 weeks with no improvement. i believe i have either LS or low estrogen, but doctors are reluctant to believe either since im 22.

i have fordyce spots in the folds, but the skin seems to be translucent towards the outer area. i honestly dont know if it has always looked like and is normal skin variation, or if thats the "white" in regard to LS

thanks for your help

Hey, this sounds so frustrating. From my experience GPs are reluctant to consider LS in younger people but my specialist identified it immediately so might be worth one more specialist's opinion? If you do get a LS diagnosis and fancy joining a support group with me, let me know. I've recently been diagnosed at 33 and keen to find similar cases to support each other. Good luck

hi, with my experience I had clitoris fusing and that might be worth to check to see because you can look normal to a doctors at first glance but with mine, it started there and slowly had fusing of labia. i have the same white or lighter creases as the picture.

    Morgan,

How long have you had this itching and the lighter skin? You've seen a vulvar specialist and they "don't know?" Makes no sense. Did they biopsy a piece? That would be a necessity at this point. Did something happen that preceded this problem? Assume no sexually transmitted diseases....... Have you tried coconut oil or extra virgin cold pressed organic olive oil? Let us know what else you find out.

      Hi there,

ive had the itching for about a year now, it started a week or two after i got on birth control. i came off birth control 3-4 months ago and the itching began intensifying and dying down during different parts of my cycle. at its worst during my period and at its best around ovulation. my gyno office messed up scheduling and i cant get in to see another vulvar specialist until the end of march

i went back to my primary care and she tested my hormones. i have very low estrogen and testosterone. my total estrogen is 27 and im not sure why this is the case when im 22. i started using estrogen cream about 3 weeks ago and it has helped the itch the most. im seeing an endocrinologist at the end of february
