Could this be Melanoma?

I just found a mole on my back that is shaped like a straight line. It's much darker than any of the moles or freckles on my back and has a yellow hue around it. I don't know how long it's been there because it's in a hard to see spot on my back. I'm scared because it immediately popped out to me when I did decide to scan my miles and check for irregularities. It's not big in size just weirdly shaped and dark. I'd just like some input as to whether this is worth a dr visit seeing as how I don't have insurance until November. Please help. I wish I could post a picture but I'd be willing to email a pic if anyone is willing to take the time to look. Thank you.

You can get pictures of moles online to get an idea. One thing I remember is that they are bilateral. Or in other words if you were to draw a line through it, is it the same on both sides? Does it have raggy edges. Just because it's a new mole doesn't necessarily make it cancerous. My dermatologist suggested that I take a picture of my moles every month or so and that way they can be compared from month to month. You will be more likely to see a change in a mole that way.

Ya, I would get that checked out

Like you, I don't know what that is

But it sounds like you need a doctor's opinion

You can also just look up moleskin for skin cancer

Melanoma, squamous or basal cell carcinoma

Moleskin? Why look up that for moles? Is that just a typo? Do you know what a moleskin is?

My advice would be to go and see your GP about this.  Your GP would rather you go and check these things out than leave it.  I worked in plastic surgery for 15 years and saw all shaped and size skin cancers.  It may well be nothing but always get them checked out if they are worrying you.

On the skin cancer website, they say to check moles out that either change in

Shape or color or are bigger than a pencil eraser

Yes it's borders are jagged. The only thing that it doesn't show out if the ABCDE is color variation and diameter. It's super skinny but long. I do want to get it checked but I won't have health insurance until November. I haven't seen any changes since posting this but I'm not sure how long changes would take either. Thank you everyone I will for sure be getting this checked the second I have my insurance.
