Hi ladies, I have a friend who is 43 and she has been getting bad headaches b4 her period is due for a while now. She has also been getting nausea recently and going hot and cold so I am wondering if this could be peri as shes going to docs as fed up with feeling unwell when she is due her period and during her period but I no some docs will dismiss it as peri as say she to young so just wondered what your thoughts were.

Could very well be. Same thing happened to me. GYN told me I was too young for menopause. I'm 48!!!! Never a mention of peri and I didn't know that existed. I suffered for weeks after due to that. Thinking something else was wrong but, knew that I've never been ill prior to this and all my symptoms aligned. I got hit with very severe symptoms and it's the only thing it could have been. I diagnosed myself and I'm confident about that. I was first diagnosed with anxiety and depression. I'm like it's physical! I'm not depressed! They look at you like your crazy. It's all hormones. Of course it could be something else. Everyone is different but, that's exactly what happened to me. Lots of good information and lovely ladies on this site to always offer support. Read past posts. They helped me a lot during this time. I'm so thankful....Take Care hope your friend feels better soon!

Thanks for your reply, she can only find stuff about migrains worsening during pms but nothing about if youve never suffered with migrains b4 then suddenly start getting them during periods (if it is migrains)

I used to get them all the time just before having my cycle. I think that's normal. She may be more sensitive to them now or she could very well be experiencing signs of peri or of course it could be something else. I'm not a doctor but, I will say this. Extreme fatigue set in for me when peri hit and I felt like I couldn't cope with general everyday things. That's was just me though and the first red flag something was seriously wrong.

I started getting menstrual migraines around 37/38. Now, I'm 44 and definitely in perimenopause. I started getting heavy periods close together around 2 years ago. And, in the past year I started having these weird hot flash/anxiety attacks.

So frustrating, she is not too young, unfortunately these doctors are not educated on Peri/Menopause in medical school, we have to do our own research. tell her to jump on here, send her the link. I think the headaches are indicative of low progesterone possibly.

Yes your all right it could be start of peri, I would rather get the the expertise of you ladies than docs as most no nothing bout meno so thought would rather ask on here for her, I guess will c wat her doc says but think he said she had sinus probs last time and low in vitamin D.
