Could this be Terry's Nails?

Posted , 6 users are following.

Just noticed that most of my toenails have some whiteness followed by a small red line at the top. I'm a 20 year old male, to my knowlegde I don't suffer from cirrhosis, liver failure, diabetes, CHF, or hyperthyroidism. I have had relatively recent bloodwork and everything came back okay, and I just had an ultrasound on my neck and they said my thyroids looked fine. Was just curious if this was normal or not, and if I should get it checked out. I feel like I've been in and out of the derm office so many times lately, and if it's obviously not a problem then i'm not going to bother going sooner than my next scheduled appointment (later this month for a follow-up). From what I can tell I do not have these on my fingernails, and it might be a little hard to make out from the pictures for some of them. Anyways, any advice would be appreciated.

Your nail look fine. Why are you concerned ?

There is like a horizontal line of pink/red on top of most of my toenails, and they looked kind of white-ish below it. I didn't know if this was normal or not

Attached picture is terry's nails, ans usually with people who have hepatic cirrhosis

I dont see any of this in your nails, and you said you dont have any hypertension, diabetes or hepatic disorder.

I see. I just heard it was partial whiteness with a dark/red band at the top so I thought that might be it. Any idea what the red line could be then? Or is it just completely normal?

I cant see that red line. But if your concerned you can have it checked with your GP.

Your nails look perfectly healthy to me. Some irregularity of pinkness is often quite normal.

Exactly the same problem here, with my big toes looking very severe, same band etc. I could also swear the fingernails are getting lighter pink, but the Lunula is clearly visible on my fingers and thumbs, just gone on my toes...

Did you ever get any diagnosis of this?

Exactly the same symptoms here, I suspect myself to have Liver damage but my bloods are fine with minimal Bilirubin and low normal RBC, High Ferritin.
