Could this possibly be prostatitis?

Dear gents and intrigued ladies,

This is going to be a rather long story but I'm going to try and keep it as short as possible. And I apologize for my english as I'm not a native speaker.

For two years now I've had a problem that is dramatically restricting my life and right now I'm getting desperate. To make this easy for myself I'm just going to start from the very beginning and work my way down to today.

Important notice before I begin my story, I'm diangosed with anxiety and depression since 2014.

Two years ago one night as any other I was sitting infront of my computer browsing Facebook when I got a normal urge to visit the restroom. As soon as I got up from the seat I noticed I very odd diffuse burning sensation coming from somewhere inside my lower pelvis radiating down in my left tigh. I didn't pay much notice and went to sleep soon therafter. Ever since then the pain simply won't go away and have been getting better and worse depending on my mood and season really.

I then got a new problem in combination with my pelvis pain with typical IBS symptoms like bloating, gas, abdomen pain after eating, and constipation. At this point I went to see a doctor who took stool and urine samples. He didn't find anything in particular and gave me some medicine to ease up my constipation. Weeks went by and now is the time it started developing into your typical prostatitis symptoms. Intense pain coming from somewhere close to the anal opening, the space between penis and testicles, and sometimes the pain goes all the way down into my left toes. I also noticed I had difficult urinating.

Symptoms in detail:

- Difficulty urinating.

- Mentally hard and fear of pain when visiting the restroom.

- Radiation pain in the pelvis, thighs and left leg.

- Pain in the pelvic floor.

- Pain when sitting for too long.

- Depression and general irritation.

- I feel limited in life and my quality of life is getting worse.

- Always worst in the evenings.

- Pain in the lower end of the rectum.

- Pain in the lower abdomen.

- Temporary satisfaction after passing stool.

What I want to mention is I've NEVER had blood in the stool or urine, never had fever or vomiting in connection with the problems, feeling otherwise healthy and energetic.

When the prostatitis symptoms appeared I went to see another doctor who took the same samples but also a prostate sample who again couldn't find anything really wrong. She gave me antiinflammatory pills to try for a longer period of time which barely had any effect.

Been visiting several more doctors during the course of the last year and even went as far as doing a full x-ray of my pelvis and still nothign out of the ordinary.

Today I'm stuck in a living hell not being able to go out except for my job. I have a constant feeling of having to visit the restroom and have alot of problems passing stool and urinating. I also have this weird symptom when I feel like I have to urinate, I also feel like I have to pass stool at the same time which is really driving me crazy. I would describe it as sitting on a golf ball which is obstructing my rectum causing the constant sensation of having to pass stool when I have to urinate.

All this stress and anxiety over this have made me have diarrhea and general soft stool I can only describe as tar more often.

Can anyone relate to this? Could it be my prostate acting up even though doctors can't find anything wrong with me? They have also ruled out any medical problems with my bowels as they see no sign of inflammation.

Hey Buddy.  Your not alone.  We on here have all had to deal with prostatitis from time to time.  All me have some of the pain you are going through and some added.  When my prostatitis hits I have most of the systems you have plus my penis goes numb.  Now that is a feeling.  You need to go to the doctor or fine another to see what type you have so they can give you some meds to take care of it.  Right now I have a UTI and last week I had the rums for 3 1/2 days. only could pee a little.  Better now but go see a doctor. about the problem PLease  Good luck  Ken

Are the doctors you have seen gastroenterologists?

Stool that looks like tar usually means there's bleeding somewhere in intestinal tract. Hank

    Hi, LeChar,

A while back someone posted something about "Male Pelvic Floor Dysfunction" on this forum. You may want to Google that term to see if that resembles what you are experiencing.

You have many of the symptoms that I have had with prostatitis except for the emotional symptoms and the pain going down your leg. I've felt desperate and discouraged with prostatitis but not depression. Also, the leg pain sounds unusual. You should definitely see a urologist.

Yes that could be one of the system to.  The only time I had a pain full ejaculation was when my prostate was inflamed in 2015 was on ciprofloxacen 500 mg 2 times a day for 30 days.  It hurt so bad that I doubled over.  Never what that to happen again.  You know guys we have to put up with a lot God help us all  Ken

    LeChar,

What country are you in ?   You should be seeing a urologist for your symptoms.  A urologist should be able to tell you whether you have prostatitis, BPH, prostate cancer or something else. There are a number of tests that can isolate what your problem is,  PSA, DRE, Cystoscopy, Post void residual volume (PVR), Trans Rectal Ultrasound (TRUS).  A good urologist should be able to recommend and order some of these tests for you.

It sounds like your prostate is large and is pressing on your rectum and possibly pinching a nerve that runs into your leg. A urologist should be able to tell you why it is large and recommend a course of treatment.

Thank you for all the quick replies.

Doctors I've spoken to is really confused as I said in my original post gone through several examinations including x-rays of the pelvis. The last time I went to a doctor were last fall wher they confirmed again nothing indicating a medical issue. They simply called it IBS and recommended a change in diet. I forgot to mention that I've tried being without lactose, gluten, and coffee for a long period of time without effect. I also tried eating more fiber, drinking more water, eating less fiber, drinking less water but no effect. I don't think alcohol nor smoke.

When I said my stool look like tar is not what you'd imagine. It's normal healthy coloured, but it's the structure and texture that appear like tar; soft, sticky, and I always feel I can't get everything out because it's so bloody soft alotof it stays inside. I always have to sit on the toilet hours later and squeeze for king and country to get the last out to have a somewhat enjoyable evening.

But the big mystery is why it's affecting me when urinating. I can understand IBS as it's a very common problem, but never heard of IBS making you urinate slower, or too much. Or maybe it's common? Perhaps my bloated abdomen is putting pressure on my bladder?
