Could you please confirm that I am doing the right thing!

Since being diagonised with Bronchiectasis I have been doing the following, is this alright or should I be doing more?

I sleep with the bed on a 6 inch incline (my husband says he fells like he is up a mountain!).

I take ultibro breezhaler every morning, and fluimucil every evening.

Once a month I take broncho - vaxom.

I have noticed on the forums everybody mentioning the flutter device, especially the acapella, they seem to have such good reviews that it is top of my husbands things to get when he visits the u.k next week.

I am not sure of any self physio that I can do if anybody know examples on you tube etc could you please let me know, as I only use the computer for this forum many thanks Samantha

Hi Samantha. I do not recognise the medication you refer to but my husband uses a flutter valve and says that he could not manage without it. We get them free with the nhs but you can buy them on Amazon. He also uses Mucadyne  which he takes morning and night which helps to get the mucus moving. Hope this helps.

    Hello Samantha

I used to sleep with my bed propped up when I was a child with bronchiectasis but I haven't for years. If you've been advised by ypir doctor to do it 6 inches is about right.

I don't know the drugs you speak of but if they've been prescribed for you I really hope they help.

Lots of people who post here use a flutter. Once again I have had bronchiectasis for so long that flutters weren't invented. I have always done postural drainage exercises since childhood. I will look at You Tube when I am on my computer rather than my phone.

Good luck and good health. If I find anything to help you I will be back!

I have looked on YouTube and there are masses of videos re. home physio - all under the heading postural drainage.  Hope you find something that helps.

    Hi Samantha,

Could you tell me please , where do you get the Broncho- Vaxom?  I have emphysema caused by A1 antitrypsin deficiency now having frequent exacerbations.

From my reading of research papers this product could be helpful.

    Many thanks  June

      Hi June

we live in Portugal and I just go to the pharmacy, but if you live in the uk you willl have to see the doctor as it may not be available over the counter

I do find it good and take it every month, its really simple 10 tablets then 20 days rest. there is another one called Provax 7mg - which is just the same but cheaper over here - hope this helps samantha

Hi Samantha,I also have Bronchiectasis.I am on clenil, ventolin and Spiriva.Like you I sleep on an incline in bed.Yes the flutter is great if you are having trouble bringing up all the mucus. If you go to you tube just put in Bronchiectasis and you will get up the video's you want. Also if you google the same thing you will get lots of information there. The main thing is to get the mucus up.There are simple breathing exercises you can do.depending on the level of your breathing the more exersises you do also help.hope this helps
