Couldn't handle citalopram side effects

I was put on citalopram back in March. 20mg daily. The first 2 weeks I was sleepy and occasionally nauseous. Things began to settle down and I felt ok. Then mid May I woke up in the night feeling terrible heart racing and had sickness and diarrhoea. I was OK for a day or 2 then it came back again and again for over 2 weeks I kept getting woken in the night with sickness and diarrhoea. I was tested for everything going.

I told the doctor I thought the citalopram was causing the symptoms but she dismissed that theory. I came off it completely and waited 2 weeks before trying setralin. An hour after taking I felt sick and had diarrhoea. So I didn't touch those again either as I have a phobia of being sick.

Since then I'm not on any anti depressants but my stomach has been terrible. Acid heartburn 24/7

and pain in my stomach with a dry lump in my oesophagus. I've had a scan and an endoscopy blood tests and stool samples all come back normal. I'm at my wits end with this stomach acid, it's taking over my life. Has anyone else experienced this?

I've been prescribed Ranitidine and gavisgon. I've tried Lansoprozol but it gives me diarrhoea and omeprazol doesn't touch the amount of acid I'm producing.

Feeling miserable.

I experienced reduced appetite, feeling full quickly and throwing up after eating/mid-meal as well as waking up with acid reflux or experiencing random acid reflux recently . . . I am pretty sure it was all due to axiety. I have had some major changes in my life lately and my stress levels have gone up and down a bit. I noticed the symptoms when the stress levels were higher . . .  Chances are, this reflux could be a symptom of the anxiety, not the medication. (But of coyrse, Im not a healthcare professional)

Thank you. I am beginning to wonder if this is all anxiety. I experienced the same feeling full quickly and randomly feeling nauseous whilst eating to the point where I was unable to look at the food on my plate until the feeling passed. I've had a really rough time this year being bullied and ganged upon by people I thought loved and cared about me.

I'm considering trying another type of medication for the anxiety.

The acid reflux is definitely from the Celexa alone. I had bad acid reflux that prevented me from sleeping. I was given Zantac 150s for every 12 hours and I am good as new. Any medications can be hard on your stomach/cause stomach acid. It wasn't anxiety.
