Hi David, Try to be positive, if you think it won't go well then it won't. Good luck.

Hi David, Counselling is about you talking and them listening and they will help you explore ways of coping and dealing with your issues. Go at your own pace and it doesn't matter where you start. It could be past, present or future anxieties you may be struggling with. Counsellers are not judgemental or about giving you advice. They will encourage you to talk and open up. Counsellors have heard it all before and there is nothing in which you cannot talk about. I have got a RSA in Counselling and listening skills so i can assure you it's worth a try. They will be more highly qualified so try to relax and use this precious time to understand and find a way to resolve your issues. Good luck. If you want to you can let me know how you coped with your first session. Hope this helps. Elizabeth

I always see myself as a listener as opposed to a talker.

Its never been easy to open up for me but i will pursue it as i have to something.

Thanks Elizabeth,i will update after my first session,i have a course of 6 to attend

Hi again it will be easier to talk to a stranger than to your family and friends as they don't know you and you are not emotionally attached to each other. I have had Counselling and talking therapies myself over the years and it helped me a great deal.

Hi David, I would say see it through as one session is not enough to make a judgement. I have not had CBT myself but i have heard it can be good, it is supposed to change your way of thinking, negatives into positives, hence your negativity now may change after you have finished your six sessions. I beleive that six weeks is about the right length of time for this sort of therapy. Keep going and stay in contact, let me know how you get on next time. Take care. Elizabeth

Thanks,i am determined to see it through as the facilitators appear very intent on helping all that have attended today

So in 6 weeks i will be able to give a more informed opinion....

      Thanks again

      David
