COVID-19 and now a mass in my right lung

Hi everyone.

I am 27 and a non-smoker.

In December 2019, I had pneumonia for the first time and the cough really never went away. In February 2020, I had pneumonia once again this time was diagnosed after I was coughing up blood. Both times the pneumonia was on the right side. The cough still never went away, but I've always had problems with a cough and chronic bronchitis since I was young.

I was recently diagnosed with COVID-19. I was ordered an xray in December 2020 that I was irresponsible and didn't actually get until this past Wednesday, 2/24/21, the same time as my covid test. My xray showed opacities on the right middle lobe of my lung.

I called my doctor about 5 days into having covid because I started having a dull ache in the right side of my chest. She sent for a stat CT scan which I just had yesterday. Today I met via video with my pulmonologist who told me that they found a lesion. There is a mass in my right lung and I need to go for a bronchoscopy this coming Monday to determine what exactly it is.

I guess what I am hoping for is someone to offer their experience and what it turned out to be. I am obviously beside myself thinking it's cancer. I have not stopped panicking since it happened. My doctor is hopeful that because I'm a non-smoker and I'm so young, and I've had the cough for so long that it is something else, but he cannot rule out cancer. I am looking for any advice out there. My parents are both in poor mental health so I'm trying not to bring this up with them - my father is a suicide survivor and my mother has a massive anxiety disorder. My boyfriend is my rock right now, but I'm just trying not to worry people more than I have to. I'm just really scared is what I'm saying.

Any thoughts at all are appreciated!
