Covid - anxiety and panic are back

hi i had increased to 30mg after christmas and had been doing really well. However, then i got covid and over the 2 weeks the anxiety and especially panic has returned. dont know where i go from here do i increase, 35 then 40 (this just seems so much) or do i change or even just see if it gets better. so upsetting when you finally get to a good point and now feel back to square one

This happened to me too. When I got Covid it set me back with my Citalopram. I felt like I went back two months to square one. My doctors told me this is normal, especially with a virus like Covid. Your body is using all its reserves to fight that, so your brain chemical adjustment/healing takes a back seat. Id give it more time. I personally would not increase... it will definitely bring more unpleasant adjustment. Just wait on your body to heal. It wont take another two months. I bet in two weeks you will feel a bit better.

thank you for replying. what your doctor says does make sense. I will give it some time to get better then see how I feel. Hate setbacks.

I completely understand. Im at three months and Ive improved a lot but still not 100% and I have hard days. It is so frustrating... but I have to keep looking at the bigger picture. They say it should keep improving the more time you wait up to 6 months. Some say a year.

yes i have been recovering since july and its been so slow. i really felt like i was finally feeling really good best i had felt since last year and then got covid. so for me i think it will be the year at this rate. did your anxiety calm back down once you had recovered from covid?

Yea, the anxiety was really bad with the covid which made recovering from omicron take two weeks instead of 5 days like many others, then i was dealing with another week of feeling like i went backwards with anxiety recovery. Ive been gradually getting better week by week. I started Citalopram last November so Ive been on it about three months and a week, but at 2mg its only been about 5 weeks.

I completely understand. The same happened to me. Im still in a state of needing to go to bed earlier and get as much rest as possible or the anxiety and tiredness are relentless. Im so frustrated with still having nights of restless or little sleep. I hope that lets up soon. Good rest is so essential to recovery. My doc prescribed Trazodone to help with sleep months ago and Ive taken crumbs nightly, but I wonder if its problematic/creating dependency. I seem to sleep poorly if I try to go a night without it.

yeh i am the same keep needing to sleep earlier than usual! i have no problem getting to sleep but i wake up at 5am all the time its so annoying. i spoke to my doctor yesterday and she said that it can take a good 4 weeks to recover properly from covid and to give myself another couple of weeks before deciding to increase. i have never had anything to help me sleep but i do have diazepam for emergencies or if increasing etc.

I can so relate with the tired all day and then anxiety is worse because of the tiredness. I'm in the states, Utah. I hope you have a good day as well!

I know waking up early sucks.. But i wake up at 5.30am every morning for work, its not a big deal... If you wake up that early try to fit a early gym session, a morning jog, walk, try make the most of waking up early.. Easier said then done I know but try use it to your advantage.. Sometimes i used to get up, shower and just hope back into bed.. you will feel better.,
