crackling noise.

In bed at night when i breath in i can hear crackling sounds in the bottom of my throat. I had an endoscopy on Tuesday and all that was found was gastritis and given a leaflet on acid reflux/ gerd. The constant back/shoulder stiffness is getting worse and it's going into my arm too, i am starting to worry it's my lung. My oxygen levels are fine and my chest is clear and all my bloods are fine. I also had an x ray of my right shoulder on monday and was wondering if my lung would show on this.

    I imagine that if there was a problem with your lung it would have shown up in the bloods but to be honest if I were as troubled as you are right now I would be going back to the doctor.  Your back/shoulder stiffness might be nothing to do with the Gerd...it could be a muscular thing but you need someone to give you a definitive answer.  Don't be intimidated just ask.

    I have been numerous times and they checked my oxygen levels, listened to my chest, took all my bloods, had an endoscopy, x ray of my right shoulder and abdominal ultrasound this saturday.

      Really sounds like you've had the works.  The only thing you haven't mentioned there is a Chest Xray? A shoulder Xray sounds specific and wouldn't be likely to give an outline of the lungs.   Perhaps you should ask for a Chest Xray or lung function tests.  Did you tell them about the crackling feeling?  Did they offer any explanation?  It's hard to imagine that they wouldn't pick up on something but I suppose it might depend on what bloods they checked.   I feel so sorry for you having to go through this and I hope that you find an answer soon.

    Is a lung function test not similar to blood oxygen level test? I had that done on tuesday too during my endoscopy and it was fine. I will see what saturday brings and if all ok i will ask about my lungs.

    I have the same crackling and nobody knows what it is.  Could be reflux if your bed is flat.  I am going to raise my bed to see if it improves.  I have had every test done and nothing so maybe post nasal drip and mucous gathers in my throat??  Fine after I get up.  Let me know how you make out.

    @Dianne15921..do you still hear the crackling sound ? I get to hear it occasionally and I also have an occasional back pain.. When I checked the GI, he suggested it was Gerd and I was on ppi for two months.. It seemed to work for sometime.. But feels like I'm starting to hear the crackling noise again with a mild back pain..
