Cramp

I had a terrible episode with cramp in my right calf on awakening this morning, it was really very painful. Does anyone think this could be connected to my hypothyroidism?

I had the same problem! Crippling cramps that wouldn't stop from walking them off. Awful. I started taking a potassium pill and a couple of sips of tonic water before bed. I also started taking 32.5 mg more Westhroid. Not sure what did what but they stopped. I do think I was under medicated.

    Hello Pauline:

My name  Shelly and I am a nurse in the USA and I have Hashimoto's thyroid disease since 1987.

Cramps can come from Hypothyroidism and also from low potassium & magnesium and Vit D.  levels.  Also muscle atrophy which can happen in older people.

So take a good multivitamin with iron as helps to have good levels of vitamins and minerals.

    I hope this helps,

    Shelly
