Cramping

Posted , 3 users are following.

I have had chronic pancreatitis for 2 years. I have been on creon for several months now. Of and on this past year I get very intense cramping type pains in my stomach and back. It is not the typical constant pain of pancreatitis. Has anyone felt this or know what is causing it? Please help

I've tried taking Creon twice now, and both times I've had cramps so bad I can't even make it past one day of use. Not sure if that's what you're experiencing but it definitely doesn't sit right with me.

    Hi Kathy,

I'm a bit like you in that I am into my second year with pancreatitis. I get pain which comes and goes in my right hand side of my abdominal area. I asked my doctor about Creon, as I had heard about it here, but he wasn't enthusiatic. I don't know why. I believe that there are side effects. So, I'm a bit confused and don't know if I would be better off taking it or not. The pain you are experiencing is  most likely related to your pancreas. Typically, pancreas pain is located in the abdomen and sometimes it can travel to your back as well. Luckiy, mine hasn't gone to my back. Recently, in fact, I have had less pain than normal which may be attributed to a change in diet. When I eat chicken with gravy for instance I  can get pain so, although I like chicken cooked this way, I'm better off not eating it. However, I think your pain is due to pancreatitis, but of course, I'm not a doctor and just telling you what I have experienced myself. The only practical advice I can give you is to follow a fat free diet as much as possible and to note what you eat in a diary and see if any food keeps making your pain worse or better.

    Get well soon,

    Pete.
