Well for certain Barathan your blood pressure is VERY excessive.  This is definitely causing harm to you and not just to your kidney.  You must have seen a doctor to get your blood tested, so did the doctor not prescribe anything to reduce your blood pressure?  Did the doctor not give you any prognosis about your kidney?  You say you are having no symptoms or signs with a gfr of 5.  Are you sure of this number?  You say the doctors give you no explanation, but they must tell you something?  Not even dialysis?  This all seems unbelievable.   Get a doctor immediately who can advise you.

    Barathan,

First, it sounds as though you need to see a nephrologist (kidney specialist) immediately. If the doctor you have seen is a nephrologist you may want to try another--the doctor you have seen doesn't seem to have done a very good job of explaining your lab results. And, with an eGFR of 5 I'm extremely surprised this doctor didn't talk with you about treatment options for those experiencing renal failure.

Your blood pressure is high. I would expect your nephrologist will want to address that to get it pulled down closer to the normal range. (High blood pressure is one of two primary causes for chronic kidney disease. However, if hypertension didn't cause your decrease in renal function it has quite likely been caused by your decreased renal function. Regardless, your nephrologist will determine what is going on and set a treatment plan for you that includes blood pressure management.)

However, your first step is to get to a nephrologist. With an eGFR of 5 you need to do this just as soon as possible.

I recently had that same test with creatine levels 1245 . My gfr was 13 and I also have no symptoms. I was diagnosed 2 1/2 years ago with iga nephropathy. And they only found out through a random blood panel done by my pcp. I was hospitalized for over a week until they finally told me I had iga nephropathy after kidney biopsy ckd stage 4 with gfr ranging from17-21. All I am doing is the kidney diet.I don't have answers either
