Crohn's

I've recently been diagnosed with Crohn's and anal fissure from Crohn's. I've dropped 25lbs between 1-2 months. My first question, is my weight loss typical. I'm on some sulfa medication but it's not effective. What medication has helped? I'd prefer not to take a steriod.

Yes, very common to lose weight. I used to weigh 215lbs and in 3 months I lost 35lbs and now I am 173 and unable to gain weight. For me so far after many years the only thing that has worked is prednisone. I can't take any medication with sulfa as I am very allergic to it. I have tried many drugs for it, so you need to try to see what will work. I hate to say it, but we don't always get a drug that will work 100% for us, so in that case you do the best you can with what will work for the most part. It is a bad disease, but I am proof that one can live with it and function for the most part normally. Hang in there, it does get better.
