A brief run through.I am 41 years old and have had both diarrhea and constipation for many years I was told I had IBS....in the last few years my stomach cramps, pains, and both severe diarrhea and constipation (which I relieve with suppositories).had a fecal calprotectin test a few months ago was raised at 158 and had a sigmoidoscopy which was ok to where they could see.my problem now is I cannot tolerate the bowel prep at both times (one with a strong bowel prep the other was senna and mag cit) I also tried a capsule endoscopy which I couldn't swallow either....I am now at a loss I feel very poorly most days and because I can't do any of the tests unfortunately I feel I have run out of options.I am anemic very low on b12,and my liver APL is raised also.has anyone got any ideas of how I can go forward or at least another test that can help diagnose me...my gastroenterologist did mention an MRI then didn't bother...please help...

sorry for your pain pauline. I don't know where you are but your GP can send you by referral to St Mark's London, for most expert advice. John Radcliffe Oxford is highly recommended too. You can go onto Crohns & Colitis Facebook page for lots of advice & discussion. There is lots online from the C&C charity. Good luck, sheila.

Thankyou so much for your reply..am under a gastroenterologist in Swindon Wiltshire at the moment as I live in wiltshire...but he seems reluctant to try anything else other than a colonoscopy which I cannot seem to do.i will try jihn radcliffe advise line as it will probably be the nearest one.thanks again.
