CT Colonoscopy (virtual)

Hi. I’m having a virtual ct colonoscopy next week I’m scared. I have had a colonoscopy attempt that was so painful my pulse was through the roof and I was crying out. They had to stop the procedure.

?I'm now scared of having the virtual one because a colleague who tolerated the colonoscopy with no pain found the virtual one painful. Anyone tried diazepam? And in what dosage and how long before Dad yiu take it? Was it successful? Thanks in advance

Hi there Lilac S In answer to your Question I  had a ct scan a few weeks ago the" virtual" one is not a painful procedure much better than the invasive colonoscopy and I didn't take any medication before it I hope this helps you I'm sure you will be fine x

The virtual is nothing to be scared of I had this as I also couldn't tolerate the colonoscopy. It's painless won't lie to You I felt 2 little split second twinges.

I took 2 2mg diazepam beforehand just to calm me down . It was a lot of worry and panic for nothing .

Good luck keep calm let us know how you got on

Like you, I could not have a colonoscopy, due to the location of my diverticula.  The CT scan was no problem whatsoever for me.  There was just a little bit of discomfort with the air that was pumped it but it wasn't pain - more like feeling bloated and a need to pass wind.  It was all over very quickly and after passing said wind, I was fine!  Best wishes.

Hi I got an appointment to see the specialist at the hospital afterwards got my results then .. remember no news is good news don't worry if it takes awhile to hear from them .

Glad you didn't find it too bad it's less daunting than the colonoscopy and I honestly found it virtually painless
