Ct scan showed large turbinates

I’m a 33 year old male and for the past few months I can’t breathe one of my nostrils is always swollen 24/7 it switches sides every few hours which is part of the nasal cycle

It got so bad I couldn’t sleep and the medicine I was given Flonase and Claritin didn’t work it’s the worst at night. I finally went for a ct scan and the doctor said I have no deviated septum and no polymps just large turbinates and a small thin nose so it’s blocking my airwaves. 33 years no problem but these past few months have been hell I refuse to have the reduction surgery because a good friend of mine had it and ended up getting empty nose syndrome and his life was ruined from it he ended up commenting suicide from it. It has changed my life I’m always depressed and angry I can’t  sleep good it’s all I think about and I hate when night time comes it’s like torture   Has anyone else had this and found any relief without surgery?  I also use nasal rinse- steam- hot showers and it does hardly anything   I think I’m gonna go get a allgery test done it’s my last option

Hey buddy, i'm in the same boat as you. I'm currently going to get an allergy test to rule it out. My E.N.T wanted to do a septoplasty and a turbinate reduction but i'm very skeptical about the turbinate reduction. Thanks for sharing your story. My nose was broken once so i was thinking that could be the cause.
