CTS RECOVERY

Posted , 4 users are following.

I had Carpal Tunnel Surgery at the end of November on my left hand. Ober the last week or so I have been getting a burning sensation around the scar going down to my wrists and like a ripping feeling underneath. Just wondered if anybody else has had these feelings?

I had my right hand done in August and never experienced either of these feelings it has healed well (though it did take 6 months)

Thanks

I had my left done on 27th Nov and I get a burning sensation over the scar and some pain in the wrist. My right was done on 5th Nov and that still has some tenderness around scar and wrist. Things do gradually improve.

      Thanks Jo

I just wanted to know if the burning was common in recovery as I never experienced it with my first op!

    Hi Shalliene

It seems to me that the nerves react in all different ways and they take a long time to settle down, months in fact.  I didn't suffer the sensations you described, but I did have some very peculiar feelings in my fingers and hand.  They eventually disappeared.  I do think it is imperative that you do the exercises and don't try an lift things (e.g. shopping) too soon. Ask you r doctor about the sensations you are experiencing.  Good luck.

Sounds like like nerve irritation which  can be caused by internal inflammation or scar tissue and often can happen.   Massage should help with this as it helps to break up scar tissue.  Come join us on Facebook in the group called Carpal Tunnel Surgery Recovery....lots of lively discussion and information smile
