Curb alcohol cravings

Hi there. Does anyone out there know if GABA helps to curb alcohol cravings

    GABA is not a drug but a neurotransmitter in the brain. Alcohol increases it. There are some drugs which have an effect on GABA to reduce alcohol craving. One of those is Acamprosate (also called Campral). There are different theories about it's effectiveness.

      Hi PaulJTurner1964. Thanks for the prompt reply. So are you saying GABA does not curb alcohol cravings? Campral is not sold in South Africa. Apparently Baclofen might help but there is no way i will be able to use this because it is too expensive and the side effects are nasty. Do you have other suggestions?

      Paul also why i asked about GABA is that I have noticed there is a supplement by this name. Is it used for something completely different?
