Has anyone actually been able to cure their GAD? I’ve seen YouTube videos and heard people say it before, but has anyone put their truly cured their anxiety? And if so, how did you do it?

Hello! I have a positive answer for this. I don’t have GAD but I do have an anxiety disorder (panic disorder) and in some waysthey are all very similar. I can tell you that even though i’m not cured yet i am in treatment and with the right treatment you can control your anxiety and live like a “normal” person. (Hate to use that word but you know what I mean). I am on treatment and I went from having insomnia, depression, dizziness, palpitations, worrying about my health, having 2-3 panick attacks per day, and feeling hopless to feeling back to my old self. Because now I am not having these symptoms, my thoughts don’t seem like going on a spiral anymore and I am now able to control my anxiety if it creeps in. I’m super happy now and I can assure you it was a difficult role but you can get there❤️

I don’t think I ever had GAD, but I started having panic attacks about 20 years ago.  Once I figured out what was wrong with me, I saw a psychologist that specialized in anxiety.  I read his books and practiced everything he taught me.  It helped a lot, but I decided I still needed meds also.  After that, I was so much better!

I think I started with Prozac first.  Then I had family members doing great on a newer drug, celexa, so I tried that. So I was on both for about 10 years each.  I just got off 6 months ago because I figured I was cured.  I did well for a while, but anxiety crept back in.  Somehow Celexa did not work for me the second time, so my doc is having me try a newer med called Viibryd.  I’m on day 6!  It is tough, I feel like I’m starting all over again and I just want to be me, like I was before I stopped my medicine thinking I was cured.  🙁

I've had anxiety for about 8 years now. I see a therapist and take xanax occasionally on the extra bad days. I don't think I will ever "cure" my anxiety unfortunately, even though it has gotten much better over the years.

In my opinion, from what I've heard and read so far, it doesn't seem like people really ever cure it totally, it's just that they learn how to cope with it and then it doesn't effect them as much anymore.

I can be fine and watching tv or cooking then all of a sudden I get extremely scared and can’t focus I feel weak or nauseous or I could just have a random panic attack and I’m so tired I’m just ready to get back to my old self but be 10 times stronger .. we will get there
