Yes it does. It happened to me. It was so scary and lasted almost 5 months. I was taking so many herbs.vitamins.parasitr cleanse. i was going crazy. No body understood when i said nothing looks real. I feel like I'm in a painting. Everyone bounced it off as anxiety. Dr had no clue what it was. I was really sick when i got it. I don't know how or why to this day. But one day it went away. I was taking anti inflammatory pills. .i also think it had some thing to do with middle ear ..i did hydrogen peroxide ear cleanses i looked to acupuncture. I never had answers or understood what happened. I still never feel 100 percent ok to this day but it improved. It was like a weird brain fog and nothing looked or felt normal. .

Hello yes it does or to be absolutely correct it has for me. I have had anxiety all my life (62 now) & when I was is kid I used to just flip out for weeks at a time.

As I got older anx. manifested in different ways hypochondria. agrophobia. You name it I had it but as I gained 'cognition' I realised the core was just anxiety so I have GAD but haven't had derealization/ depersonalisation for 30 odd years.

but still suffering! Hope you can get sorted.

    Best Wishes Bendie

Yes it does go away. My other comment didn't show up for some reason. I know very well what derealization. or a brain fog is. NOthig looks as real as it normally looks, colors can look faded, you can see, walk, talk and do everything fine, but everything just looks disconnected and people around you that you love, you just have a disconnection feeling to everybody. It went away for me after 5 months. It was scary, not many doctors were familiar with it, no one understoon what I was saying when I tried to describe it. I didn't feel normal. I have some helpful things along the way that doctors tried with me I will share but for some reason my comment isn't going through. FIrst most, what triggered this, what happened with in a few weeks before this started.

How are you feeling with this, are you still experiencing it? Are you seeing ja therapist or have you seen a neurologist. When you say derealization and depersonalization, how are you feeling? I wonder if it is the same as how I was feeling. Hope you are getting better.

My doctor said it's normal due to high anxiety levels. It's a scary feeling, feels like things are kinda unreal.

how long have you been feeling this way, did it come out of the blue one day all the sudden. were you feeling healthy and fit before? was there a trigger, stressful situation. that is how i felt, being a very healthy fit and active person, one day I didn't feel very well and had slight blurry vision and then the next day everything was fine, but nothing looked or felt quite real. I almost felt as I was looking at everything through a plastic or glass see through wall. How long has this lasted for you. For me it was the scariest thing in the world. I wondered every day what was going on and if it would go away. What kind of dr are you seeing that said this is caused from high anxiety levels? you must be in a stressful situation then?

p.s. there is hope for you, it does go away, but you have to be pro active about your life, treating what is causing the "anxiety" and not ruling out anything in your health underlying. Have you been seen by a medical dr to make sure all else is ruled out before making sure it is anxiety??

I got better because when this happened to me last year, I was first in complete denial it was anxiety. I didn't believe in it as I never had any panick or anxiety prior in my life. 2 weeks prior to it happening I was in an extremely stressful situation when my son had a serious reaction to vaccination and was in the e.r. he was better, but this happened a month later and my family dr said that this trauma caused an anxiety reaction where he said my brain was trying to protect its self from the trauma. I was put on sertraline and given lorazapam to treat my anxiety. none of which helped but actually made side effects worse for me, so I stopped adding more chemicals into my body. I continued to seek medical treatment through specialists, neurologist, ear nose throat, endocrinoligist. I had ultrasounds, ekg, mri numerous tests that all showed how wonderfuly healthy I was. I noticed that when my derealization started I also had irratale bowl. I searched the internet vigorously to find anything out about this derealization, depersonalization to see what has helped people and to find out what it was. I came across a few interesting things. I went on a complete health diet, to eliminate any foods that could be causing problems. Veggies and fish, health shakes, limit all sugar, processed foods. mostly greens to start then added fruits. Its not easy. this was to eliminate possiblility of candida or parasites. I took cayenne pepper pills to and pro biotics. accupunctute really REALLY REALLY helped me. I looked to natural healing. Fungal infections and yeast can cause bizarre feelings in head and brain causing things to look weird. I was taking chinese herbs to heal the gut. I looked to my enironment to check for hidden molds. check the foods you are eating. You must heal yourself and get your body balanced right for it to work right. I was also taking supplements. Turned out I had a possitive test for a bit of malabsorption. My body was not absorbing fats correctly. Your brain needs fat to properly matabolize all other vit to feed your brain..So I went to the vit store and got a complete omega balanced vit. This all helped so much. I was also treating my ears, I did hydrogen peroxide cleanses, as I was having ear problems as well and thought that this was all caused from some typre of middle ear infection, which can effect dizziness, balance and could cause. For 6 months I continued to see doctores. looked on the internet for connections in any symptom that could be related. Before all this happened I was a Rn Nursing student with honors classes and a perfect 4.0. I couldn't finish my program because this derealization, I also referred to as brain fog or cognitive impairment  crippled my life and thinking. I believe anxiety is real, but I also believe nothing is without cause. Look to natural healing, heal the gut, see a naturopath or a good acupuntureist. I was skeptical at first but a true believer. Things got better for me, and I wish to help anyone I can with my story. We may not have the same thing that caused this for us, but going through it was the worste thing in my life and how much suffering it caused if I can stress anything, get your body healthy and functioning proper again, it is off balance. PLease look to anything in your environment that could be toxic, continue to see your psychiatrist, but you won't get better unless you start to try to naturally heal yourself. Message me privately I can give you my email. I really hope you get better.

I do pray you get better, dont feel doom, it can and will get better, if doctors can't find anything wrong, then your body can heal and has the opportunity to heal. YOU WILL GET BETTER. JUST BELIEVE IT. if it can be done in your life, try a little get away. breath some fresh beach air. try to laugh and have fun and trick your mind into forgetting its there.
